The chicken is RIGHT off the interstate, which is honestly ideal, and there is a gas station nearby. The chicken has multiple panels which explain her origins, and there is a small gazebo (I think?) area where you can sit for a moment.

I thought it was very charming, and my puppy enjoyed playing with all the dandelions in the walkway leading up to the chicken. Definitely recommend!

Otto the Otter was a great stop on our road trip. He’s located in a huge park that has restrooms, a pavilion and a playground. For furry friends, there is ample room to stretch their legs and get some energy out. There is also a neat area where TONS of birds nest in a tree in the lake just a few dozen feet from Otto.

Only downsides are that you do have to go a bit off of the interstate to drive to Otto. There is also quite a bit of goose poop (which was a positive if you ask my gross puppy), but I did see someone going around trying to pick some up.

Overall worth a stop for more than just the photo-op. Just don’t go if you’re afraid of birds!

The park around Big Ole is a great place to stop if you’re traveling with pets. There are restrooms for you to use, as well as plenty of grass for your furry friends who may be discerning about their bathroom choices. There are also benches, ample parking and a lake with a dock.

Big Ole himself is pretty large, but it’s his spear that gives him most of his height (which feels slightly disappointing). You also have to drive through Alexandria to get to him - a town somewhat known for not being welcoming to all. Not to mention the whole “birthplace of America because of Vikings” thing that glosses over the area’s Native American history.

Overall, worth a stop if you and your traveling crew needs a break to just stretch or eat a pre-packed meal in a nice park, I just wouldn’t spend too much time in town.
