We thought we'd stop here just off I70 on the way to LA. The map showed us a location but there was no ghost town in sight. As we gave up and headed for the highway, Cisco appeared on our left. We turned in and parked, only to be thoroughly creeped out and afraid for our safety. We took a few pictures, too scared to really explore, then left in a hurry!

My brother and I devoted out day to seeing the Sandhill cranes of Nebraska. They're amazing raptor-like creatures and best seen in March and April. But if you're like us be sure to plan your trip well in advance. Tours sell out and timing is everything. Call ahead of time and bring appropriate clothing and equipment!

Awesome park full of great wildlife, horseback riding, fishing, and boating. Went for a hike on our way to Denver just to get photos of the mountain scenery. Only downside is it costs $7 for the day, but the photos are priceless.

Great hiking and nature viewing. Bring boots and prepare to walk a bit to see some startling vistas and historical rarities. The animals (Eagles, songbirds, squirrels) were a real treat. Enjoyed some great views of the Illinois river.

Came to see the eagles and the locks. Turns out this place is impossible to get to! After an hour of circling the island we gave up. The entire island seems to be a military base and there was no way to get through the military checkpoints to the visitor center. It sounds very cool if you can find it...
