An excellent museum for anyone. It's a relatively small museum but I ended up spending over an hour in it because the exhibits were just that fascinating.
Very neat tour! They let you try out some of the instruments (none of which I can remotely play), see each part being made, and gives some fascinating history. I highly recommend taking it!
Pros:
Excellent location
Cleanest, nicest-looking hostel that I've stayed in
Well stocked kitchen with free tea and coffee
Cons:
No free parking. The lot across is $10/day. There's a sketchy $4/day hidden lot a few blocks away, and that's the best I could find.
Semi-loft-style. There are walls, but they don't connect to the ceiling so you hear every move anyone makes, showers and TV included.
The staff was polite when working with them, but they were very loud and rude when talking to each other around the hostel.
Beds are strictly assigned. Want a top bunk? Sorry, they assign all the bottom ones first.
There weren't many people there. Granted it was early January, so definitely the off-season, but I didn't get the typical hostel experience.
No alcohol
If you have any interest in Chemistry, you have to see it! I was impressed because it is a good museum if you don't know much about Chemistry you won't get lost, but I'm a senior Chemistry major and learned a lot as well. Definitely one of the best museums I have ever been to.
The best Mexican restaurant in the Cookeville area! Tuesday nights are BOGO margaritas (which are incredible) and trivia nights, which are a lot of fun. The food isn't super authentic, but it tastes great and is a fun environment.
My favorite day hike and weekend hiking location. I recommend going to Greeter Falls which is on the opposite side of this park from where the app locates it. However at this point is the ranger station where you can get maps and directions. Greeter Falls is a mile or so hike that isn't too crowded. There's a swimming hole, a river bed with massive boulders to explore. . . It is perfect.
