We booked here after spending one evening at Mill Creek in Mackinaw City along the water. We unfortunately arrived during the midge fly swarm season. When I say swarm, I mean the literal context of swarms. Midge flies only last a few weeks, don’t bite, and stay close to the water. Luckily, Tiki RV was just a few miles away and midge fly free.
The employees are extremely friendly and very flexible. I like that the campground is so close to dining and grocery shopping.
Our site was right along a road lined with homes. It was mostly quiet with the occasional car driving by.
Laundry was cheap at $3/load. I would stay here again. Also, excellent mobile service via AT&T. We were able to have Zoom and Teams meetings effortlessly here, plus all of our streaming services without using the campground’s Wifi.

Pretty interesting. Great place to stretch legs especially if you have little ones. The children's area was even fun for the adults!
Note: Recommend not starting off with the holocaust exhibit first thing.

Tent camping: Primitive (clean) bathrooms (no running water for showers, washing hands, or brushing teeth) stocked with hand sanitizer.
Very pretty grounds, lots of geese (and geese poop), and accommodating staff.
For the price point $10, if you have young kids and like to kick back a few brews while the kids run ragged this is your place. If you like a quieter (alcohol free) place you may want to pay a little more and try another campground.

This little gem is a gorgeously kept historic home with a small convenience store located in a converted garage. Very helpful, friendly, and clean with the BEST firewood around!

Starved Rock State Park Campgrounds: Friendly staff. Shower and bathroom conditions need major improvement. You will have three seconds of water for hand washing before needing to push for more water. Two showers, both timed, and one was broken. Shower walls were slimy with reddish sludge. One toilet only, which took three times to flush toilet paper down. I'm told the men's shower walls have no slimy sludge (maybe it's from conditioner buildup in the ladies bathroom).
Grounds were clean and nice. Fire pit comes with a grill attached which was great.

When traveling to St. Louis Canyon: Main road was closed due to deteriorated road conditions. It appears they no longer upkeep this road. We parked outside the gate along other cars and walked in past the gate. There is about a quarter of a mile hike down the main road until you get the the trailhead.
Very beautiful (and buggy) mid-morning. A definite must see.

Great stop when you need a 20 minute break.
We found that the deer also loved picked daisies as well as the carrots and apples they provide for $1.00.

Cleanest bathrooms I've ever witnessed at a camping ground. Pool, arcade, ice cream, Lake Michigan access, beer and wine sold onsite. They have a strict noise policy, meaning if someone is being obnoxious they will take care of it without hesitation.
Be warned, the seagulls will be yelling for snacks early in the morning.
I'd recommend this place to families and friends alike. Friendly staff as well.

Just stunning! Definitely worth the stop. At present adult tickets are $9 which covers 45 acres of meticulously groomed paved walking trails. On par with Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Mi.
Very kid friendly as they even have a special section just for the little gardeners with a play area and tunnel slide as well.
Be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen as you'll want to spend at least an hour minimum here.
