I've never been to Stonehenge, so this will have to do.
I was in the area when I thought about Carhenge. I looked up where it was and got excited at how close I was. Made my way there and got lucky to arrive just around sunset. There were a few people walking around taking photos as well but it wasn't crowded. I asked for permission to stay after dark and get some star trail photos. Super glad I asked because I was pretty content with how the photos came out.
Be sure to bring a sharpie to sign the car they have set up for it.

The park is super busy every time I've been, but well worth it. It's always nice to walk around, and if you like to people watch, its a perk that its crowded. Plus, there's "the bean"

One of my favorite National Parks. It's perfect for the person on a road trip. The road around the rim has a ton of turn outs and view points that are just off the road.
I wish I could have stayed at the lodge but that wasn't in the schedule.
And, I mean, its a Volcano inside a volcano!

My Girlfriend and I love this place! We've stayed here a few times now and will keep coming back. I really enjoy checking out all the rooms.
The staff is great! Between the hotel and restraunt staff we have had no complaints! They are very friendly and informative when it comes to the history of the hotel.

You HAVE to stop... even if you are just driving up the 101. We made sure to include it in our trip through Oregon. The self guided tour and free cheese are worth the stop alone.
Pro Tip: Get a "scoop" of ice cream before walking through the tour. It's a nice touch and the things are HUGE!

The name doesn't lie. All the rooms face the view of the monuments. They are regular hotel rooms outside of the view. Understand that you are paying for the view. I can't tell you how much time I spent just enjoying the view from the balcony, both day and night. Don't get me wrong, its a very clean and well suited hotel, but its a bathroom, bed and a TV. The staff is very nice and accommodating.
It's a great place to start your drive along the road that loops around the monuments. If you are a photographer, this needs to be on your list of places to shoot.

Traveling the Arizona/Utah border is chock full of stuff to do. Horseshoe Bend is a must on the list. If you ask me, its almost better than the Grand Canyon. Being able to walk up and sit on the edge is pretty intense. I'm afraid of heights so it was a bit of a victory if you ask me. haha.
Its such an iconic spot that they extended the closed road down to the access point for the parking lot. If you are in the area or visiting the Grand Canyon, you have to put Horseshoe Bend on the list.
There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the view, and it starts with a pretty steep incline, but you can take your time and they have some shaded areas to rest if you aren't much of a walker. It is worth the walk tho! You must do it!

It's part of Highway 1. One of the best roads in the US. You literally HAVE to go to it if you want to take the PCH. Now, I go to the PCH so I can cross the bridge. I really enjoy just stopping and enjoying the sounds at night. To top it off with the historic impact the bridge and other works projects had on our country is amazing.
It's a must do if you are running through California.
