Living so close it really is a shame we hadn't visited sooner. The visitor's center plays footage as well as showcases memorabilia from 9-11. It really took me right back to that day. The fear, the heartbreak, the anger it was all right there on the surface again. Then you walk or drive down to the crash site which is makes by an open field with a single rock. It really was extremely emotional seeing all the names of the hero's on that flight. I highly recommend this memorial for anyone who was affected by the events of that tragic day.
Anytime I go in to a cemetary I'm a little unnerved but I was even more uncomfortable in this one. Our whole day in Salem the weather was warm and the skies clear until we headed to the Witch Memorial and The Burying Point. Suddenly there was a major chill in the air and the clouds were moving in threatening rain and once we moved in to the cemetery a fog started rolling in. Bit was very unsettling.
We didn't get to see everything we wanted to in Salem due to time constraints but this was at the top of our list. The whole day hat been hot and clear but on our way over to the memorial and cemetary the temperature drastically changed and it became overcast threatening rain. Luckily the rain held off and we got to walk through the memorial which definitely had a heavy sadness to it. It was a great experience.
The town definitely has an ominous feeling to it. Roads and drive ways leading to nothing but open fields. Very little to no signs of life. It was creepy for sure but well worth the little detour in our trip to Massachusetts just to say I've been there.
The Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum has something for everyone. I myself am a fan of history but also a follower of the Paranormal. Initially I wanted to visit for the ghost tour but due to timing we were only able to make a day trip. We ended up taking the 4 floor historic tour but we were not even a little bit disappointed. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the architecture is absolutely beautiful. This is a place I intend to go back too so that I can explore it even further.
