Nerdy companion to my husband, heroic storyteller to my children, shameless romance reader the rest of the time, I'm always on the lookout for the most beautiful and interesting spots in America to share with my favorite people.

it is exactly what it sounds like: a retail store filled to the brim with Curious George merchandise. Toys, clothes, party supplies, and of course, the books can all be found in one handy location. If you're a Curious George fan, or know someone who is, this is a must-see. It's a beloved Cambridge institution, and lots of fun even if you don't bring the kids.

You and your family can spot the Mallards from Make Way for Ducklings making their way through the Public Garden in the form of a bronze statue, ride the swan boats that so impressed the duck family, and view all the landmarks that Mr. and Mrs. Mallard discovered while on their quest, such as Beacon Hill. Feed the Mallards descendents in the pond, and watch out for them if you're riding a bicycle!

Being a little baby can be really stressful. Having so little control of your own body can really get you down. Float Baby founder Kristi Ison has come up with a solution. Hydrotherapy for babies! Babies as young as two weeks old can come to the spa and float around in peace. During the session, you can "expect to observe your baby enjoying the sensation and freedom of movement in the near weightless environment of purified water." Although there are conflicting opinions on just how helpful the therapy can be, there's no doubt that the babies look awful darn cute in the pool!

Lots of spas have special prenatal services, but the Baby Belly Pregnancy Spa in Kentucky takes it to a whole new level. They offer the usual massage, pedicures, and facials, all dedicated to pregnant women, but they also offer a pretty unique ultrasound package. That's right, you can check on your baby's progress right before you go get your nails done. Packages include 3D printed pictures, a DVD of your session set to music, and a CD with color images. Your visit really counts as your offspring's first spa day. Let the bonding begin!

The Playhouse opened in 1899 as part of a movement to provide structured playtime to urban children. It's one of the first of its kind, and is 16,000 feet of pure play space for children under age 5. The house holds all kinds of attractions, including a play kitchen and tricycles. The grounds, 6.5 acres of fields, woods, and hills, are also home to a playground with over 50 pieces of equipment where the older children can play. The best part is that it's completely free, even the parking! If your kids need a break between the mansions and museums, this is a great option. They don't have any food options, so be sure to bring your own snacks.

Franklin Square is one of the original Philadelphia Squares, designed by William Penn himself (and if you don't know who that is, come to Philadelphia and they'll tell you). It's been completely updated for family fun, including a miniature golf course, a playground, and a carousel. It also includes a storytelling bench, where historical characters will tell you their story. It's just a couple blocks from the Liberty Bell, so if your toddler just needs to let off some steam, this is a great place to take a break.

At 5 miles round trip with lots of elevation, be prepared to spend at least half your day here. But don't worry, the view from the top will be more than worth it. Start early, before it gets too hot.

An auto tour in Zion National Park is a must-do. The fabulous vistas and the easy access to short hikes will keep you occupied for as long as you like.

Check out the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins for a concentration of geysers, hot springs, and other geothermal phenomena. Old Faithful is justifiably famous, but there are many other beautiful geysers without the crowds in Yellowstone.
