From Jetsetter:

All red everything – that is damask wallpaper, a leather-tufted bar, and plush booths framed by pinup photos – courtesy of interior designer David Rockwell, sets the bordello-like scene at Strip House. The strip steak is the cut of choice, but everything is served up sizzling, French style, and seasoned with simple salt and pepper. Sides are as worthy of your attention as the mains, namely potatoes fried in goose fat, black truffle creamed spinach, and roasted Brussel sprouts with Asian pears and shallots.

From Jetsetter:

"Brimming with art galleries, shingled storefronts and charming mom-and-pop restaurants, Cannon Beach has become one of Oregon’s must-see beach towns. And thanks to the area’s abundance of natural scenery, you won’t have to shell out your savings to keep busy. Hit the more than five miles of sand between Ecola Creek and Arch Cape for unbeatable views of Haystack Rock, one of the state’s most recognizable landmarks, or bike the 16-mile trail to Manzanita, stopping to take in dramatic coastal views in Oswald West State Park. After, grab a broiled shrimp sandwich and a slice of apple walnut cake from Lazy Susan Café, then check out the town’s buzzy art scene at White Bird Gallery, the oldest fine arts gallery in the area. After a long day of exploring, rest your head at The Ocean Lodge, an affordable family-friendly resort with 45 water-facing rooms, a free continental breakfast, and a cozy library stocked with books and movies."

From Jetsetter:

"If you want to bask in the glory of Rome’s Dolce Vita past, the Hassler is the place to go. From movie stars like Audrey Hepburn to royalty like Prince Charles and Princess Diana, everyone who’s anyone has stayed at this iconic hotel on the Trinità dei Monti, or Spanish Steps. Classic elegance reigns in its public spaces, though the rooms vary in style from old-fashioned (wooden furniture, antiquities) to contemporary (recessed lighting, whimsical black-and-white accents). The Michelin-starred Imàgo is one of Rome’s top restaurants."

From Jetsetter:

"It’s worth the two-hour drive from Cape Town to Hermanus, a popular whale-watching town on South Africa’s Western Cape. Just past downtown, on a bluff overlooking Walker Bay and two adjacent swimming beaches, you’ll find Birkenhead House, a rare all-inclusive that manages to give five-star status to laid-back beachside living. Each of the 11 rooms, scattered throughout three connecting houses, are individually designed with bold color palettes, chandeliers dripping with crystals, and freestanding Victorian bathtubs, while many are connected to sea-facing balconies. The food here is fabulous, courtesy of Cape Malay-born and influenced chef Ziyaad Osayr Brown, but the real highlight is high tea, when you can enjoy an array of brews and fancy sweets on couches overlooking the surf."

From Jetsetter:

"Set on 70 cliff-side acres on Maine’s southern coast, this New England landmark has seen a lot in its 144-year lifespan, but a recent refurb has introduced something new altogether: year-round accommodations. The 132 guest rooms have been freshened up with glass terraces, fireplaces (for cozing up on cold winter days), and locally made Cuddledown comforters. There’s now a full-service spa and grand ballroom (perfect for those planning a quintessential New England wedding), and new dining concepts that include a year-round lobster shack and raw bar."

From Jesetter:

"Consider Kangaroo Island Australia’s Galápagos, a lush terrain dominated by dramatic coastal views and endemic species like wallaby, goanna, and echidna (an egg-laying marsupial that looks like a cross between a porcupine and an anteater). This is the setting for the Southern Ocean Lodge, a 21-suite stunner whose glass-fronted façade follows the curve of its coastal clifftop. The ethos here is eco-friendly: limestone floors and spotted gum walls are made from recycled materials, there’s no public pool, and the award-winning seasonal cuisine is all sourced locally. After digging into plates of free-range lamb or foraged samphire, ask about their walking and biking safaris, which are led by the resort's naturalist guides."

From Jetsetter:

"When Anantara’s first hotel in Oman, built on the edge of the rocky Saiq Plateau, opened in October, it became the highest five-star hotel in the Middle East—and, instantaneously, one of the best cliffside hotels in the world. Of the 115 accommodations, the Cliff Pool Villas feature private infinity pools that jut out precariously over the mountain rim, 6,500 feet above sea level. There’s a public infinity pool for everyone else; when not taking a dip or chowing down on Omani and international cuisine at own of the resort's six restaurants, head to the spa for decadent treatments, to the kitchen for a cooking class, or to the Hajar mountain range for a heart-pumping climb."

From Travel & Leisure, by David A. Keeps

"Matagorda County counts more than 50 miles of gulf shoreline, including a 20-mile stretch of sand open to vehicle traffic. Beachcombers may find sand dollars and old Spanish coins amid the driftwood, while kayakers can paddle down the Colorado to the bay. The biggest draw for this tiny town with motels, campsites, and vacation rentals is the fishing. Anglers flock to the Matagorda bays for trout and flounder, and boaters enjoy the hunt for saltwater trophies while offshore fishing in the Gulf."

From Travel & Leisure, by David A. Keeps:

"A boardwalk with a bandstand and a frozen custard shop, a landmark carved totem pole, and a sophisticated miniature golf course add up to an all-American destination—and one of T+L’s Favorite Family Beaches. Known as the Quiet Resorts, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island offer seven miles of Atlantic Ocean for swimming as well as a sheltered bay for boating and fishing, minus the hubbub of nearby towns Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Ocean City, MD. Lodgings and dining in Bethany Beach cater to the kid crowd, so if you’re seeking solitude, try a rental home (1150 Coastal Hwy.; 800-228-8833 or 302-539-9040; Long & Foster; from $1,500 a week) or the Addy Sea (doubles from $250 in peak summer season), an adults-only oceanfront Victorian B&B."

I did a walking tour of the college and found out that UConn started as an agricultural college. The students enrolled in the program today milk the cows every morning and they make the ice cream from those happy cows. I swear the ice cream is creamier because the how's are treated better. Try the Husky Tracks- vanilla ice cream, recess pieces and fudge swirl.
