Go our of your way to get here because it is spectacular! As I have worked at Kauffmanns Department Store in Pittsburgh, I know that Frank Lloyd Wright designed it for the Kauffmann family. I've been going here since I was a little child.
This last trip, I took my husband and he was fascinated, but then we are Frank Lloyd Wright architecture fans. We have been to his Chicago sites and home, and Taliesen in Phoenix. If you have the time, drive to Kentucky Knob, another home by Frank Lloyd Wright, which is also in the area.
Went here after going to Bearizona and had a blast!
SORRY, but Scotty's Castle still closed and not expected to open until 2019, according to the National Park Service. But do not miss Death Valley - it is spectacular.
A don't miss stop when we are in Vegas. Just enjoy hiking to "The Wave" and seeing the petroglyphs. Also, we stay in Boulder City at the Boulder Dam Hotel that has such a great staff and great breakfasts with the bed!
Take the Boulder Dam helicopter tour and tour the Dam. It is wonderful not being in the city of Las Vegas with all that traffic!
We love to hike here. There is a "Wave" like structure of colored sandstone that is wonderful. We have still not seen it all. And there is rock art to see, too. You have got to go when you are anywhere near Las Vegas!
