4 of 5 with asterisks***
This hotel had the friendliest staff, best location, and all the amenities and things we needed due to traveling with a baby and two dogs. They do have a suite although it's not advertised and we ended up staying in the suite which was quite spacious. The ONLY caveat to this hotel is that the building is old and the decor is outdated. It does not give off the "luxurious" feeling that you get from other hotels, which is really hard to say given the fact that the people were so friendly and the place actually served our needs. The exterior also felt more like a motel than a hotel...so anyone expecting to stay at a more luxurious style hotel would be disappointed but don't let it discourage you if you're just passing through Amarillo; the prices of other hotels in the area with a more luxurious feel here aren't worth it.

We wanted to give this place a 5, as it definitely helped us out when our previous hotel was a disaster, but it still didn't have the crazy exceptional "wow" factor that you'd get out of a resort stay. The suite was a larger than average room with a king bed in it, but not an actual "suite"....however it was styled in such a modern fashion that you'd hardly notice. Overall for the cost and the modern feel it's probably the best place to stay.

We were extremely disappointed; to start the "larger" room they advertised was a king sized bed stuffed in a small motel sized room, which is probably not a big deal but we were traveling with a baby and two dogs so when we requested a larger room we thought we would be getting something bigger. The room did smell nice, but the floor was disgusting as if someone rubbed grime and dirt in it and just sprayed air freshener without cleaning it up. We couldn't walk barefoot across the room without the bottoms of our feet turning black. We didn't mind much until we noticed when we woke up in the morning that the entire bathroom floor was covered in ants, and I mean entire floor. The staff were extremely helpful and did cancel our second night as we opted to stay somewhere else. We are giving it a 2 of 5 because while we were upset about the ants, lack of space, and cleanliness, the staff were extremely nice and it was across the street from the Owl Diner which was probably one of the best diners we've had.

By far the best place my family and I have stayed since we started traveling; to start we got an actual modern style suite (unlike a lot of other chains that claim to have suites but just offer a larger sized room) that felt like something out of a resort. The backdrop of the mountains behind the hotel made us feel like we were on a ski vacation in Colorado. The hotel was pet friendly, military friendly, and accommodating. They baked fresh cookies for guests every so often and gave courtesy calls to ensure we were enjoying our stay. While we literally just drove through flagstaff, staying here made us want to come back for another visit...literally just because this La Quinta provided such a positive experience.

Definitely worth stopping; the hotel was clean, accessible, pet friendly, military friendly, exceptional rooms, great service. We have nothing but positive things to say about our stay here. We give it a 4 of 5 because while it was a great stay, the "suite" style room wasn't what our family would define as a suite. It was larger than a normal sized room and did allow us to put our baby down while relaxing in a separate area, so if we could we'd give it a 4.5 out of 5...we highly recommend staying here if you visit Kingman.

It's hard to be honest about this place after meeting such a friendly staff, but the motel is so bad due to multiple circumstances that we had to give it a 1 out of 5; the room was moderately dirty (not too bad) and the beds are advertised as "queen" size but are more like doubles. The real reason this place deserves a 1 star is because of the shady surroundings. The surroundings look like a dumping ground and the adjacent street had cars bumping ghetto bass all night and morning long. There were shady characters walking around the parking lot all evening and it honestly didn't seem too safe. Overall we wanted to rate it better because of the friendly staff but couldn't.
