Hey y'all!! Yesterday we went to #WoodsbayStatePark !
We got to do a little jungle hike, see alligators, turtles, fish, dragonflies and much much more! We found some poison ivy to identify as well. Because my 9 year old homeschooler said "I need to see them in real life, not just pictures!"
This park is in South Carolina and its FREEEE!!!
I suggest if you use the road trippers app ( we use it for everything and have for years! It's our favorite app!) that you do NOT follow the GPS through that app to get to this park. It WILL take you down some shady dirt roads and you will not make it there. Search it in your google maps outside of the app.
When you get there, there is not much room to get lost. It is pretty small. You follow the sign that points all directions to hiking, boardwalk and fishing. Walk a little ways and you will see the boardwalk. It is unfinished. But you walk down this board walk and you just have alligators all around you. They may be hard to spot at first. There is nothing separating you from these alligators, so show caution.
We went back and took the nature trail. It was a good little hike for all of us and it had tons to see. Also they are no longer renting out kayaks for the river. BYOK :D
We took our 5 kids. 6-13 years. The made the climb all the way up. But I don't think most kids their age could. We ran into a rattle. Wear closed toed shoes. Bring water. A backpack. Don't touch petroglyphs. There are smooth rocks and wild grapes. Come prepared. Be safe.
Pretty cool stop along the way to oatman.
It really is just s building or two on the side of a busy road. Not much to see. Nothing to do. If you have kids its pointless getting out.
Pretty cool stop along the way to oatman.
We loved this place! Took the 5 kids. My kids are pretty calm. We had an awesome your guide. We had two other people in our party with us. It's a small area and so if you take kids, they will need to be calm and not touch all of the stuff. It's very old. But it was a great experience!
Fun place for kids. Family owned business . They are great people and the kids love it. Not badly priced at all!
Looked like nothing from the road, but once you walk up there it's beautiful. We had our 5 kids with us 4 yrs-10yrs. They all loved it. There's all kinds of information signs to read. A viewer to see far. Nice place to stop!
Heard there was a ghost town in kings valley and hoskins. Couldn't find anything in kings valley. Thought it would be the same way with hoskins. You drive up into the wildlife area. You follow the path and see a couple of old buildings. There are a lot of signs to read though. There's a nice picnic area you can rent. Has a sink. Counter top. Nice bar b qs. There's blackberries to pick along the way. There are apple trees. The kids had so much fun apple picking. It's a beautiful area. Come prepared for a little hike. You do need to go down hoskins road. Keep following it around the trees. Eventually there is an entrance into the historic county park. That's everything everything is.
