We needed a place to stay during a cross country trip so we stopped here because they’re pet friendly (we even found out they have a dog wash and special towels for pets...I would have loved to try it out but it was so late when we got there, we didn’t get a chance and left early the next morning). We didn’t spend long there, but the lady at the check-in late at night was very nice. There’s a cute gift shop in the front. Our bathroom had a HUGE window in it and it was horrible in the morning . I wish they’d put curtains in there or close it up. It’s an older hotel, but I really liked how big it was in the room. I’d add a grassy area to walk pets because there was a bunch of rock and concrete. Finally, while I didn’t go physically, my husband went and got us all breakfast and he said there weren’t many options at all, especially if you don’t eat meat. I had a good bagel, but I would have liked to have yogurt or a banana too. My aunt can only drink decaf coffee and he only saw a coffee pot marked as regular. Not a huge deal, because we had decaf in our room, but it would be nice to have access to it at breakfast.
Our room smelled strongly of urine when we walked in. I’m assuming since we have dogs, we were in a pet-friendly room, but you’d think housekeeping would use a black-light flashlight when they clean. There’s no grassy spot for pets, but there’s a fenced-in pet area. It had lots of big rocks and bushes, little light, so I was afraid of snakes. I wish they would put up snake fencing so I’d feel comfortable walking my dogs at night.
A hidden gem! I’ve stopped twice now just to see the museum!
Absolutely loved the history and charm. The food I had wasn’t my favorite, but everyone was very friendly and I just loved the nostalgia.
