I'll start with the pros: there is a lot to do. The water park is awesome and the kids loved the inflatables. The bay is calm so it's good for little kids and swimmers. The pool is nice and so are the amenities in the area. Now for the cons: for the price I thought it wasn't kept as nice as I would have liked. the bathrooms were gross and did not seem new or kept well at all. When we got there (a Saturday) it was so crowded that it was hard to navigate the beach and park. Maybe because it is Newport or a larger park it lacked that community feel that I love about smaller out of the way parks. And despite the water park and stuff being awesome it was also on the pricey side. It's fun, and a good place but for the money I would have liked a better feel and upkeep.
Such a great little park. It's clean and well kept. The facilities are nice and up to date. My kids loved that they could swim in the hotel pool and play at the park and we loved the pavilion where we could bbq and talk to other campers while the kids played and made new friends. We took the train in to the park and cannot stress enough that this is the way to go. If you can get on the Anasazi train with Mike definitely do. He's fun and knows so much about the park and area that it makes your time in the canyon much more enjoyable.
This place is a true diamond in the rough. I cannot stress enough how awesome it is. We drove straight through from California and were exhausted when we got here-honestly not expecting much. And then we walked up to the pavilion with our kids and were blown away. They instantly ran to the little playground (which is shaded and on turf--brilliant!), life size chess game and mini golf course. We all had the BBQ which was awesome (and great to not have to cook after a long day of travel) and ice cream and them swam. To top it off they are so nice and accommodating. Truly a great place to stay when travelling across the country. We will be back!!
