I found this little stop just across the state line on the AZ side to be charming. Vast expansive views of canyons and valleys with the Virgin river flowing right along side of the grounds. For the whopping two dollars I paid to get in this was the perfect place to shake the drivers brain ache.
Had a great stay here before hiking rim to rim. Just over five miles from the South Rim makes it a great place to stage before your hike.
The North Rim is the perfect place to see and enjoy the Grand Canyon without the crowed of tourist. With a bit of local help one can find some sweet hidden gems along the NR trail. If you plant to make the Rim to Rim hike I would suggest you start at the south Rim finishing on the north. This way you can get a few solid days of rest afterwards without the hustle and bustle of families vacationing.
It was a nice break from the hypnotic hold driving can have. Just a few short miles down a road running parallel to the highway. Standing much bigger then previously thought with expansive views of the beauty that is Arizona.
It was a nice break from the rigors or distance driving. There are great photo ops and if you listen carefully you can here blasting coming from the near by mine.
