Thanks to previous trippers' tips, I had zero problem finding the gravestone! A fun stop for Breaking Bad fans!
I was so excited for this for some reason, but I didn't realize the atmosphere that would be here. Pay $10, pull into a dirt parking lot, stand in line, ask the person behind you to take your picture, hurriedly decide on a pose while 20+ people are watching and waiting, and quickly leave. It was SILENT here, which made me that much more uncomfortable. Like, it's kinda cool just to say you were here, but it's not really that great, unfortunately.
Very nice.
So much fun!!!!! I wouldn't describe the hike as short and easy (says a fat and severely out of shape person with a bad hip and knee) , but even for me it was easily DOABLE. A couple of miles round trip, I think, not very steep, and every little adventure along the way makes all the huffing and puffing worth it. Grazing deers, fun little chipmunks that pop out at you, the delicious crisp clean air, and the incredible view once you get to the top. GO FOR IT! Give a try even if you think you can't!!
I'm not sure what everyone else does, but I think I misunderstood what this scenic drive was exactly. We were on Stagecoach Rd, then turned onto Gold Camp Rd and drove around Sugarloaf Mountain and Mt. Rosa and ended up in Victor. It was one of the most terrifying and magnificent thing I've ever done. I think once you get off Stagecoach Rd, it takes you into Pike's National Forest on a very raw and unmaintained mud road. But the views you get are just breathtaking. It took several hours and it's very very isolated, but 100% worth it. Just make sure you have an emergency plan (spare tires, rain poncho, maybe a flashlight or a flare or something, food, etc in case something does happen.) We had zero phone signal, and there was not a person to be seen, and we did it all in a Chevy Impala!!! We saw lots of wildlife (A real live turkey, some form of large wild cat, a couple of groundhogs), drove through a river, possibly caused a minor rock slide, and made friends with the mountain squirrels. Definitely nothing I'll ever forget!
Skip it. The scenery is meh, the bridge is no big deal, and the prices these people are trying to charge is infuriating. I would recommend taking the time and money you would've spent here and just taking a nice scenic drive to Pike's Peak via Cripple Creak (What I did immediately after leaving this rip off and it was spectacular)
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. GORGEOUS drive out to the park, exciting drive up the volcano, unreal views from the top, fascinating being in the center of a volcano!!! It has a nice ranger's office about midway up with clean bathrooms and souvenirs and very nice and helpful rangers, plus a couple of rangers at the top providing guidance on what the views are of. My tips are this: It is INSANELY windy at the top. Don't do what I did and plan on having a picnic at the top. The walk around the top is INTENSE. Obviously, the elevation is one thing, but it's also incredibly steep. It is truly a must see, though.
Meh. I was super excited to come here. The cars are cool, it's fun to spray paint your name on them, but the crowds and the trash were a big turn off for me. It's worth coming just to say you went, but don't let your expectations get too high.
