When I called in late the owner, Mark, warned me of bad storms in the area with large hail. Not good any time, but especially towing my new Airstream.
The park is about five years old with wide sand pads. They have a small dog park.
Good spot to stay coming or going to Big Bend NP.

I stayed here several days and used it as a base camp for day trips.
Pricey but a good choice. Gunnison is big enough to have many restaurants. I was here to fish and there is even a stocked pond next to the camp.
Say trips include the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, fishing lakes, and old mining towns.
Nice people and a petting zoo full of animals to visit.

This is a peaceful RV park north of Houston. It has a nice club house and laundry. Stay on the lake and catch bass.

It is amazing to see how much history passed through Fort Union. It was the most important fort in the southwest in the 1870’s and supplied over 40 others. There is a very educational 1.5 mile walk thru the ruins.
This is the best preserved Fort from the 1870 I have seen. Great history museum with several high tech story telling additions. The Ranger staff is friendly and know their history.
Never thought I would say this, but we loved it. My 13 yo kept asking to stop and it became our primary destination on the North Coast. The place is straight out of a 50's road trip. Very "retro cool" according to the teenage travel agent.
We stayed of a night as we headed East from the Black Hills. The staff and owner were very nice and the site/facility was well equipped and clean. It was a good place for a quick overnight stop.
