The whole park is beautiful and definitely worth driving and walking through. It is pretty crowded though. You've got to be creative with your angles if you want a picture alone in front of the balanced rock. Also I wouldn't recommend driving a very large vehicle through it gets pretty tight on some areas of the road.
This place is awesome. I'm not usually into arcades but the collection is huge and impressive and getting to play the old penny games that still work is a real treat. Plus it's right in the center of downtown Manitou with lots of shops and eateries to check out. Definitely check it out.
Ahhh so wonderfully surprised by our time at Orchard Lake!! Such a naturally beautiful family campground with a great vibe. Use the directions from the website to make sure you get in without trouble as there are train tracks in town you may not want to go over... you can see scrapes of people who've high centerSo while slightly challenging it's nothing I couldnt handle. My family and I have been road tripping the US for the past 9 months [17 states so far] and have stayed a lot of places... this one was one of the most naturally beautiful with tons going on!
We were making our way to up to Asheville and randomly decided to stop over here for a night to break up the drive. The kids [and I] had so much fun upon our arrival we extended the stay. There's a beautiful lake for swimming & fishing with slides and swim docks. They have kayaks and boats you can paddle out in, zip line, frisbee golf course tucked away in the woods, golf chipping green, badminton, shuffleboard, little skate ramps n rails for skateboarding [everything free of charge]
We had a great site [108] a pull through with full hookups and easy access to the back gate. There were tons of kids and the vibe here is so good. We could just let the kids run n play without worry. A really wonderful family campground. If you are looking for a place the fam will love do yourself a favor and stay a day or week. You'll be back, no doubt. As will we :)
This park has 6 separate areas. We stopped at the devils washbowl which is right off the 84 and Ritter Island which was a bit of a drive in down a narrow hill. Both were wonderful! We payed $5 to get in which is good for all the sites for the day. the wash bowl was good for a few photos but because it was so hot we spent most of the day dipping in to the crystal clear water and enjoying the waterfalls at Ritter Island.
This place is called La Grande Hot Springs not eagles anymore.
It is clean, friendly, professional and well cared for. The pool and spa are filled with the natural hot springs water. It has all the amenities laundry, showers, a park and by us all sites are long and pull through. It’s a little bit off the highway but worth the extra drive. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that a 5 star would have more natural beauty around the sites. This place might have it all in a few years when the trees grow up around the sites. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.
I loved this stop! It was super busy and very kitschy but entertaining. The gift shop was superb, the free museum was top notch and the kids got ice cream and a pick tire with Paul. There was ample parking for our big rig and tow car. We didn’t do the trees of mystery ride because it was expensive and we felt like we got enough close encounters with the giants on the scenic highway and through the avenue of the giants.
Lovely campground, lots of open space fit our 36’ coach and Jeep in tow. My kids enjoyed the playground and game room. I enjoyed laying in the grass and walking down to the river. Great spot would definitely go again.
Walked down to the beach for the day from the nearby Ocean Mesa campground with the family. It is a beautiful hike down a tree lined trail make sure you stay on the trail because there is tons of poison oak. The rocks on the beach are beautiful and there is a bit of sea life in the rocks. Only down side is tar bubbles that stick to your feet are all over the sand. I have never seen this before I'm assuming it may be from old oil spills?
Crazy fun place for the kiddos with activities galore and super friendly accommodating staff. If your looking for a mellow quite camp ground this is not going to be your thing. Lots of kids and partying parents.
A super clean campground with modern facilities and only a short hike down to the beautiful El Capitan state beach. It felt safe and quite and was a great stop for a night or two. Only down side is the freeway noise which is most noticeable at night when sitting by the campfire.
