Got delicious vegetarian breakfast sandwiches and burritos to go for a breakfast on the beach. Coffee was good, too.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Al's, especially if you opt for one of the Swedish dishes on the menu.
There's also a beer garden next door, operated by the same owners with lawn games that my kids loved. And the locations, right across the street from the waterfront park (beach and playground) made it perfect for my family with two young kids. If you pick up postcards at the gift shop, you can mail them at the post office, right across the street.
My kids ages 2 and 6 loved The Farm. The chance to stroll around the farmyard holding kittens, baby chicks, and hand feeding baby goats was my daughter's dream come true. We also got to see a peacock parade with full plumage and pet and learn about many more animals. If anyone in your group actually has the patience to read the many signs posted around the buildings you can actually learn about early Midwest farming practices.
We brought a picnic and ate it at their nice picnic grounds BEFORE the kids got interested in the animals
