What can I say but "WOW"? This place is amazing.
ACK! I am starting not to like this app. TOAD hunting, not road hunting!!! Lol.
Loved it. Stayed overnight in the bunkhouse and took 3-4 hours in the morning to tour the Homestead! If you go overnight in the summer, you might want to take the kids road hunting; they were right by the shower rooms (which BTW are not very private... Well, the men's, at least - probably the only downside of our stop) .
We did a 4500 mile road trip this summer and this was our BEST stay (we did 2 nights). The grounds are beautiful & incredibly clean. The staff is excellent, friendly and genuine. Pool, playgrounds, basketball, and so much to do in the area! We loved it so much that we're thinking of coming again and staying a week.
Kabin, not kabob. Silly autocorrect. :-P
Did an overnight-er here in one of their 'Kabins'. Nice stay: old playground, pool, fire pit and public showers. No frills, but just far enough off the interstate that it's quiet. And the kabob was clean.
Sorry- hit send too early. ;) It's a bit off the beaten path, but If you go here plan on 2-3 hours and take the tour. We had a park ranger that was a self proclaimed history 'geek' and he was AWESOME. Very educational and well worth the drive. :-)
We are homeschoolers and so made a roadtrip this summer an 'American history' trip! This was our first stop.
