To add to my previous review, I should mention that the house is very welcoming of visitors. There is a sign inviting you to come on to the property to take photographs, a mailbox on the steps to leave letters/notes, and a little free library. While I was taking photos, a friendly intern came outside and offered to take my picture in front of the house.
On a more practical note, it is very easily accessible from I-70 and only took 30 minutes total to exit the highway, visit the house, and get back on the highway. Definitely worth the stop!
Such a peaceful and emotional place. Standing in front of this house and looking at the hateful messages plastered on the Westboro Baptist Church across the street is a bizarre experience, but also powerfully inspirational. Just being on the property gives such a feeling of support and hope, that I left feeling even more optimistic about the fight for equal rights than when I arrived.
