Yum! The cocktails and the tapas were delicious. This place gets super busy so make sure you book. The scallops and the polenta chips were amazing, as was the house brew and they mix a fine gin and tonic!
Super friendly and helpful staff. They helped my daughter with her surfing technique, kitted her out with a wetsuit and an appropriate board and ensured she had a great time. Prices were reasonable as the 2 1/2 lessons were really comprehensive and she learned a lot.
If there is one thing you have to do when you're in Byron Bay and that is to walk to the lighthouse (and down again). The views are amazing - out to sea (we saw pods of dolphins when we were there), across the Cape Byron State Conservation Area, to Tallows Beach, The Arakwal National Park and the beaches of Byron Bay. There is a museum in the lighthouse which has great photographs of past keepers and their families, as well as old whaling shots and memorabilia of life living in the lighthouse. You can stop at the cafe and have a cup of coffee whilst looking out at the view. The walk up is relatively easy with paths and boardwalks if you follow the road, but if you take the path from Wategos be prepared for loads of stairs - so you'll need to be reasonably fit. Either way it's a great walk and a great way to get your bearings. If you are short of time - or of breath - you can drive your car. Parking at the top is $8, but well worth it as the money goes to the conservation area.
