It was absolutely pouring and instead of the gravel truck parking lot, I parked in the garage, far away from the elevators. There were hundreds of spaces on the 5 levels. I guess I'm not the stealthiest of car campers, but no one bothered me until the 7am shift who knocked on the window and told me to leave. I did spend $$ at the casino for fun, and told that to the security guard, but he didn't care. FYI--the truck lot where many RVs go said "for casino use only". Went to the Pilot down the road for a couple more hours of sleep.
Super easy to get to, and being near the interstate provided perfect cell service. Just my van and a tent in the upper lot. The first lot (to the left) has a better view than the lot to the right at the bottom of the hill, but lake access is easiest at the lower lot. There’s a boat ramp there also. The upper lot has a really long gravel path for a lake view walk.
This must be a great fishing spot as the fish are literally jumping out of the water. Sadly it was a dump at one time, dozens of tires in the water and on the beach. Beach is a mixture of sand and dirt. There is a shooting range next door, don’t freak out when you hear gunshots. Don’t know if it’s just now, but a very breezy spot. Awesome! 😎

It was pitch dark in the campground at 8:30 pm, no overhead or solar stake lights anywhere. There were about 10 other RVers. It was fine for 12 hours. It’s next door to the high school parking lot so some car noise in the morning.

Decent overnight stop. What an interstate overnight should be--clean, safe, inexpensive enough ($51+tax/fees AAA rate)--without having to pay for amenities we won't use (pool, hot tub, etc) Classic motel with parking right in front of the door with upgrades. New carpet, freshly painted, DirecTV (instructions for the remote would have been helpful), quality key card lock. Surprisingly large with the king bed and sofa/coffee table. Outlets on both sides of the bed, easily accessible so no having to move furniture to charge cell phones.
The row of king rooms faced the convenience store/gas station, but the room was very quiet, and the blackout curtains did their job. The double queen rooms were on the other side and faced the cornfields. If it hadn't already been dark, would have taken the double queens just for extra quiet and possible star gazing.
The only negative was awful bedding. The bed itself was comfortable enough, but the sheets were scratchy and had a polyester bedspread, no blanket. Breakfast was basic continental in the lobby with a few small tables. Would stay again.
Very pretty, but disgusting smell (8/2019). The park looks beautiful.
Planned on grabbing a bite at the Overlook Cafe and mapping the next steps of our trip, but the smell of the falls was bad enough to make me lose my appetite for a while. Holy smokes! Took my quick photos and I couldn’t leave fast enough. I don’t know if it was from the Smithfield pork plant, or maybe a natural sulfer-ish smell, but don’t plan on a long visit. Blech!
Cute stop with picnic tables and pavilion. Riverside bike paths wind around park. Evidently Sparta is the bicycle capitol of the US--who knew.
Stop by the Shell station on the way down the road for daily fresh delivered cheese curds!

Exit 47 signage says Continental Divide. On the north side of highway, so very easy off/on. Beautiful scenery and painted sign explaining the divide. Large lot--easy for RV's to pull into and swing around. Pebbled lot with a small perimeter of scrub grass for your pup.
