This is the heart of NYC. Pretty much everything you probably like or don't like about New York is condensed into these few blocks. I was here in the late eighties, and it's much, much better now.

Protip: Starbucks is probably the only place with decent restrooms.

If you're in DC, the Lincoln Memorial must be on your places to visit. The monument is epic, but also not to be overlooked is the view from the top steps over the reflecting pool back to the capitol.

Unfortunately, this monument is a little hard to get to. No metro stations are nearby, the busing system isn't much help either, and do not underestimate the walk from the Washington monument/WWII monument area. It's longer than it seems.

If you have a car park along the potomac by the cherry trees. If you're lucky you can find a space there. Otherwise you're walking.

If you are from Michigan, it's just "The Bridge" no further definition needed. Also a good measuring stick, we are one hour from the bridge, two hours past the bridge, etc.

Best spot for scenic photograph is from Mackinac Island. Take the ferry from the south side, for best pictures.

Also from the Upper Peninsula there are several great locations along Highway 2 as you head east to stop and take a look.

For an up close and personal view the Labor Day bridge walk is the best. There are better tours, but they are hard to get. http://www.mackinacbridge.org/tower-tour-certificates-66/

This just may be the (arguably) best barbecue in Austin. Their sauce is a little more mustardy than I've come to expect from Texas barbecue, but that doesn't take anything away from the flavor, meat or atmosphere.

Best time to go is Spring or fall, when you can sit outside under the trees at the picnic benches. Perfect.

Everyone is going to say that this is one of the best beaches on the West coast of Lake Michigan. And while the sand is good, it gets crowded. very crowded. If you're up for a party, this is the place. If you want something a little quieter and family oriented, head up north to PJ Hoffmaster State Park.

Trunk bay excellent for first time snorkellers. An easy path is well laid out and there is plenty to sea and do. An excellent out of the way beach.

Not crowded on a Wednesday evening ~5pm. No problems getting in and out. The fries are quite possibly their best tasting deal here, they are fantastic. But the hot dogs are the main attraction and are very tasty. The Chicago was all mustard and onion, and the trailer park is chips and slaw. Very pleased with the meal and service. On the pricier side of things, so don't expect cheap just because they are hot dogs. The bread pudding was also delicious.

Free parking is easy right next door.

Excellent sand beach with warm water in the summer. Easy to find parking, and often not crowded at all, even during peak seasons. Do watch out for jellyfish.
