This is definitely the spot that locals eat in Winchester. It may not look like much but the food was delicious, the company was great, and it's a good window into small town life.
Whether you take the chair lift or one of the many trails, this is a beautiful spot you have to see for yourself. There aren't any railings on the actual bridge so be careful with little ones.
It's got a really cool theatre in the middle of the woods that's small and professional and pretty secluded. We'd go to the GIANT playground area every year for the end of the school year cook out. It's a huge area with plenty of playground equipment and lunch shelters at the base of the dam. There's usually a lot of people but it's so spread out you really don't notice.
This was the first aquarium I ever went to as a kid and it was pretty badass. We were in Gatlinburg for the winter and being inside the aquarium feels like a completely different experience than the smoky mountains.
The life-size Jenga is a must. Nothing's more fun than having a few beers and testing your precision and steadiness. The outside area is great with lots of seating, a bar, and food preparation. I haven't been on a weekend yet but it's definitely ideal for after work drinks.
The best thing about this place is the story. Be sure to catch a tour and hear how it was built. For all you Harry Potter fans, they have an annual event where they transform the castle into Hogwarts and everyone dresses up and they hold Magical classes. I was a little skeptical after hearing the story how authentic this place could be, but after entering the castle you're blown away how well it's put together and just how weird and cool it is.
I worked with a guy that ate here sometimes twice a week. Their lunch buffet is great and be sure to catch a show or talk with your meal one evening. It's a great place for a chill, romantic date.
Their noodle bowls are delicious! Toa Green, the owner, also started a food truck version called Thai and Mighty which is just as good. For dessert be sure to try Toa's other business Crank & Boom which is served here as well as having its own food truck.
You gotta check out their Open Mic Nights on Mondays. It can get a little crammed so be sure to show up early, but they have some pretty entertaining acts come through. (both good & bad)
Pretty cool spot downtown. They do a great job of appealing to college students without alienating the downtown business crowd in suits. Be sure to keep up to date on their daily mac 'n' cheese specials. Grippos on mac 'n' cheese can brighten any day.
