WAS BLESSED TO WORK HERE FOR THREE YEARS. LIVED AND WORKED ON JED SMITH PARK PROPERTY IN OUR LITTLE MOTOR HOME . SMITH RIVER IS FANTASTIC AND SALMON RUNS PASS BETWEEN SEASONAL BRIDGES THAT PARK EMPLOYEES PUT IN AFTER THE WORST OF THE SNOW MELT RUSHES PAST. THIS RIVER IS -- **WILD**-- SMASHING THRU THE NARROW AND STEEP STONE WALLS IN PLACES AT INCREDIBLE SPEED AND POWER UNIMAGINED UNTIL YOU WATCH LARGE TREES HURTLED DOWN THE WATER WAY AND REALIZE JUST HOW FAST THE ARE MOVING. 200 FOOT TALL DOUGLAS FIR TREES ARE GROWING ALL OVER THE NORTH COAST REDWOODS AREA. IT IS A TRUE WONDER AND LET US ALL HOPE THEY NEVER DAMN UP THE SMITH RIVER LIKE SOME FOLKS PROPOSE .... IT WOULD BE A CRIME THAT COULD NEVER BE RETRACTED .. OR MADE UP FOR IF IT DID HAPPEN...
