my first visit to kern river/kern county. Only a 3 hour drive from Newport. Took my daughter camping and river rafting! Best time ever, even when water is low! Must do and easy fun weekend getaway
Traveled across country with y 9 year old and myself. Some lady at some diner told us to make a stop at the 'running of the bulls' They didnt really run much, but so much fun to see! Had a great time! Spent the day wandering around. Really fun place!! We went in the middle of summer and thank goodness the heat doesnt bother us. Bring water!

I cant believe no one has reviewed this place! Well worth the long trek to get there. Clearly God has been to the caverns as there are crosses all over that no man could get to ! It really is an amazing must see place!
well worth the long trip through the middle of no where to get to! Carlsbad Caverns is amazingly beautiful! Clearly God has been there as is apparent by all the crosses in the Caverns. Even my 9 year old was amazed! Long trek into caverns so wear comfy shows. Dont miss the bat show in the evening. Rangers are very knowledgeable and worth a tour!
So awesome, went with myself and 9 year old daughter, We camped at a KOA about 45 min from the Canyon. tent camping, super clean super nice people. We went during Monsoon season. Extra fun to sleep in tent, under shelter (pay the extra $5.00) and watch the lightening storm! Slept like a baby!
