Nice amenities like a store, basketball and pool. The best part is the strip of land on the lake with views of the bridge and fire pits. Tons of ppl gather on the little strip to hang out, eat, play bags, watch the sunset, etc. Everyone here seems to be in a good mood which is good because it’s packed! The RV sites are small and cramped but we spent all our time in common areas and by the beach. Lots of green space for walking- I got lost! We had a fire on the beach 2/4 nights and on Friday, there was fireworks across at Mackinac Island. We used our own bathroom but out tent friend said they were very nice. Discount tickets to the ferry and a few experiences.

One of the most serene and beautiful parks I have ever been to. You can hear the pines whispering! They have multiple campgrounds within the park so pay attention to where you are going as we went to the wrong one! We were in the Rivermouth campground and though they were not super private, we were at the end by the river and it was gorgeous. We rented kayaks from the park and kayaked to Lake Superior. It was pretty amazing. Nice rangers. Tons of birds and bears and moose on site (sadly we didn’t see). Both waterfalls, upper and lower, were perfect for my young family with dogs welcome and paved trails! There were more advanced options but we hiked both in one day. We liked the gift shop. There’s also a restaurant and brewery but it was too busy. We had great food and beer at The Inn in Paradise as well.

We loved it here. A great state park with beautiful wooded sites, quiet and isolated. We saw seven deer in one day and other wildlife. The beach at Loon Lake was beautiful. The hike to the falls worked for my beginning hiking family, two kids six and ten.

At first, I was worried about this campground as there isn’t much privacy. It’s in the middle of the city! It turned out to be just fine and was pretty quiet though within 10 minutes of downtown. There’s a beach and a place to buy wood and ice on site. We didn’t go to the beach bc the point was to be in Lake Superior but it was nice to be on site. The beach we liked, McCartys cove was only ten minutes away. The staff was really nice and recommended an excellent restaurant. The best part is the paved bike path nearby and how close it was to beaches. We had a great time and saved money.
