Stopped here for a day and tent camped for one night on our way from Ohio to the Grand Canyon. This was actually a really great stop because the Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the United States second only to the Grand Canyon. It takes a little while to get there from the interstate and from Amarillo. As you drive you wonder how there is going to suddenly be a huge canyon in the middle of this flat, barren landscape. Then all of a sudden it starts getting hilly and there's Palo Duro Canyon. Sagebrush Campground is nice. It's at the bottom of the canyon. Very, very hot in the summer. Nice site with a fire ring and covered picnic table. We had wild turkeys come into our campsite to drink water from under the faucet. Restrooms were nice. We didn't use the showers. We drove the scenic drive. The canyon is beautiful. After we setup our tent a dust storm rolled through which was crazy. Kind of like a thunderstorm in Ohio except no rain just wind. Here's our video of our visit. https://youtu.be/jq7lKJ_9U3o

Museum is inside library. Free. Nice restrooms. Good stop to stretch your legs and use the restroom. Museum is small but worth a walk through. Plan for 15-45 minutes.

This is a must stop if you are traveling out Route 66. Plan to spend about 30-60 minutes. Stop and stretch your legs. Lots of stuff to see outside for free. The double decker bus is cool. The characters playing music under the shelter beside the bus are funny. The World's Largest Belt Buckle is also there. The oddity museum inside has weird stuff. I didn't want to pay for myself so I sent my 9 and 11 year old through with our Go-Pro and when I watched the video I realized I probably should have accompanied them! Nice place to stop and stretch your legs. The Fanning General Store is a cool store. Hundreds of different flavors of bottled soda, they make their own flavored popcorn, and lots of Route 66 memorabilia. The lady working there was really nice. There is a feed store and kitchen store in back which is different. World's Largest Rocking Chair is really big and interesting to look at. Definitely would recommend stopping for a snack. Nice hotel, really convenient to highway. We were traveling through on our way out west and just stopped for the night. Nice pool and adequate continental breakfast.

We stopped for about an hour on a trip out west. Iconic spot which is a cool stop. Interesting to see it in person. It was a really popular spot in the old days for folks traveling Route 66. No longer is a swimming hole. Pond is full of turtles. They were everywhere. Walk in the whale and climb the stairs. Watch little kids out on the whale, would be easy to trip and fall in the water and you don't want to get in that water. They have a little gift shop that's interesting to check out as well. Really cool structure. Here's a video of our visit. https://youtu.be/vmXhT61juiY

Adequate place to spend the night. We stayed in a camper cabin. We were heading out west and just stopped for the night. We were just there for an afternoon/evening and it was raining. We walked around the entire campground and saw that they have a batting cage, pool, and small lake which all look nice. Appeared to be a a lot of construction workers camped there with their big trucks and campers who worked nearby. Employees were really nice.

Nice place to visit for a couple hours since we were on the way out west. If this was a primary destination I would definitely take the ride up in the arch. My boys aged 7, 9, and 11 loved it which surprised me. Museum below arch is really nice. Great way to start a trip out west. Size of the arch when standing beside it is unbelievable. I suggest reserving your parking nearby in parking garage to make your visit smoother. Also suggest walking over to Busch Stadium and just looking around.
