You might have some problems getting there this year. I called because I was going and called and found that there was a road closure due to earthquake activity or road slide. There was a lot of snow in the area, so I had to change my vacation plans because of this.
When it reopens, however, you have to see this place! I have not seen it all because it was so BIG! I do wish that they would wash the windows because it is hard to take photos of the items left by the people, but, hey, California has some money problems, so I understand that it isn't a big draw like Yosemite (although it is close by)

Definitely worth the trip. We got some excellent photos of the place and people I have showed them to are intrigued. It is in the vicinity of Mono Lake, which is also not to be missed, and Yosemite, so this is a wonderful area to visit. We stayed at June Lake, and took the day trip.
Only think I took away was lots of photos and wonderful day.
Wish the California State Park system would clean the insides of the buildings because it is hard to take clear photos through dirty glass! I don't mind the dust, but the windows could be something to do.
Especially loved the schoolhouse. It's just like people had walked away for the day (but years ago) and the old cars just left in the field made for some great photos. Don't forget to go to the cemetery.

MUST SEE! Great pioneer days scene and two stories of cars, and memorabilia. Who wouldn't want to be here? This place is spectacular!

Stayed the night with friends at Kokopelli's Cave. The trip down is a little tricky and I sort of slipped going up and down, but the view toward Ship Rock is wonderful. Breakfast is left for you, and we cooked our dinner on our own and sat out on the parapet at sunset. It is quiet and relaxing. Believe it or not you can get television here, but relaxing, reading and just enjoying our friends was the best. The chipmunks and other wildlife is fun to watch. They have food for them in the cave.
We haven't had an opportunity to go back, but I would in a second.

I've been to Chloride and love the ambience. I love to photograph quirky places The abandoned buildings evoke times past. I imagine the glory days and lots of cowboys in the saloon, with dancing and singing. (I think ghost hunters should check this place out. ;-) )
There are painted murals up in the mountains, but I heard you need a 4 wheel drive to get up there.
It is a stop from Kingman to Las Vegas, a nice place to unwind after the craziness of Vegas.
