“Located through native bush, reaching a stunning cove on Lake Wakatipu - it's a great option for kids.”
Located only a 10 minute drive outside of Queenstown along the Glenorchy Road, Bob’s Cove is a great location to head for some unique lake and mountain shots. There are plenty of subjects to choose from. Follow the trail through native forest down to the cove or hike up pass the ruins of the ancient limestone kilns to the lookout with great views towards the Remarkables on one side and the unique vista of the cove on the other. The trails in and around the bay are well marked and you can walk all the way along the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu to the Twelve Mile Delta if you’re feeling energetic. The gum trees planted along the shore of the cove to replace native forest create an unusual silhouette against the skyline. It’s great for swimming in the summer but bring some insect repellent if you plan on hanging around in one place for long.
