“Fantastic wines and food in a relaxed setting”
Te Motu’s vineyard lies in the heart of Waiheke Island’s Onetangi Valley, where it is sheltered from the north by the ridge which guards Onetangi’s famous beach, and from the west by the massive rocky outcrop known as Stonyridge. The vineyard’s name ‘Te Motu’ comes from the original Maori name for Waiheke, Te MotuAraiRoa (‘island of long shelter’). Estate-grown and crafted from low-yielding vines, Te Motu wines embody the unique personality of the vineyard site and show the complexity and promise of long-life. The Te Motu philosophy is to produce the wines that express the unique terroir of Onetangi Valley and continue to evolve and improve with age. Using only the highest quality fruit, harvested at optimum ripeness, affords a lower intervention, crafted approach. The belief is: the more a wine is handled before bottling, the more is taken from the finished wine. Our Tasting Room offers a selection of 5 of our wines including our flagship Te Motu taken from library stock. Also available are the Dunleavy and Te Motu ranges by the glass. A Cellar Door menu is available from 11-5pm. The Shed is our very own take on rural wine shed dining, nestled in the very vines that produce our award-winning reds, overlooking the Onetangi Valley. Our talented chef works a special kind of magic, drawing on fresh produce from our ever-expanding gardens to produce honest-to-goodness, gutsy and thoroughly modern food, packed full of flavour. Either seated inside or outside enjoying the sunshine, you will enjoy our uniquely relaxed, modern-rustic atmosphere. Bring the family and make an afternoon of it. Walk the Onetangi Valley trail or just stop and savour a glass or two as the sun sets over the ridge.
