Discovery Lodge Tongariro

Discovery Lodge is more than just accommodation. It's a place to escape to and surround yourself with nature and good people. It's a place where you can enjoy New Zealand's unique Tongariro National Park, a dual World Heritage Area.

We are the only campground around the Tongariro National Park with a view of all three volcanoes. Discovery Lodge is set out on 10 acres of park-like grounds surrounded by alpine meadows & the National Park.

We pride ourselves on friendly service and excellent quality food. Our restaurant serves breakfast, dinner and premium Italian espresso coffee. We can also make up a packed lunch or packed breakfast to go, to keep your energy levels at maximum for your adventures.

Free parking while you are on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, you can leave your campervan for free at the campground while using the Discovery Crossing transport. Discovery offers a premium crossing transport in Summer. Discovery is one of the only companies that does not charge a cancellation fee for the crossing transport. It is also the only shuttle that leaves early at 5:35 am to beat the crowds and that has 5 pickups in the afternoon so not much waiting around at the finish. Same price, more service
