Laguna Maya Resort is a getaway for those seeking adventure, tranquility, comfort and hospitality in a truly natural setting. About three hours south of Cancun and two hours from the archeological site of Tulum on the Mexican Mayan Riviera. Don't forget to spend time on the sea swing! Located on the Mexican Costa Maya, 3 and half hours south of Cancun, this resort is surrounded by thousands of acres of tropical forest lies the ultimate escape. This fresh water lagoon, the second largest in Mexico, reflects all the shades of turquoise and blue as it flows toward the Caribbean Sea. Located in the southern part of the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico , just 15 mi from the state's capital Chetumal and 3 hours from Cancun. From Cancún take Hwy 307 south towards Chetumal. You will notice that on the right hand side of the highway there are kilometer signs posted every kilometer along the way. Starting from Cancun at about 370 they count down to 0 at Chetumal. This route will take you down the coast passing Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Carillo Puerto. About one hour south of Carillo Puerto you will pass the intersection that goes to Mahahual on your left. About five minutes later you will arrive at the town of Pedro A. Santos. Go thru the town and at kilometer 59 , about 40 meters south of town you will see the Telmex antenna on your right. On the left you will see a dirt road and a sign that says Laguna Azul. Turn left on that road. You will stay on this road for about two miles following it till it ends.  About one mile from the highway you will see another sign that says Laguna Maya (now Bacalar Lagoon Resort) and Laguna Azul. Keep on straight (do not take the road that forks off to the left. About one mile further on the road ends at a T intersection. Turn left passing the sign at the entrance to Laguna Azul and about 300 meters past that you be at the entrance to Bacalar Lagoon Resort. Bacalar Lagoon Resort has 7 spacious  and well appointed cabañas spaced well apart to ensure your privacy. The two bedroom cabañas have a queen size European style pillow top mattes with luxurious 100% cotton sheets in the main bedroom and a bunk bed with an additional pull out bed in the second bedroom. There is an extra large bathroom. SUCH a beautiful spot! Definitely worth a visit as the Bacalar lagoon is one of the most unique places I've been anywhere in Mexico. Not a ton to do around town though so more of a very relaxing, couply vacation than a fun friends vacation spot.
