This is an excellent hotel that has a distinctive atmosphere of history and mystery with a wonderful setting. There is complimentary car parking for 50 cars opposite the hotel, with an additional 100 spaces, 100 yards from the hotel. Overlooking the golden sands of Ballygally Bay towards Scotland, and just a stones throw from the 9 Glens of Antrim and then on to the Giants Causeway. The hotel lies only 26 kms from Belfast and is an ideal spot for touring. The ghost of Lady Isabella Shaw, the former lady of the castle, might just be there to welcome you Restaurant Set within the original 17th Century walls, The Garden Restaurant serves up a range of delicious bistro and table dhote menus for lunch or dinner, featuring many dishes made using the finest local produce. It is beautifully appointed and overlooks the castle grounds The dungeon bar is situated in the cellars of the old fortress. Exterior Built in 1625 by James Shaw and his wife Isabella Brisbane, the original part of this building naturally dates back from this period. It is an historic building with lovely surrounding gardens and the original castle served as a place of refuge for the Protestants during the Civil Wars. Lobby The original entrance to the Castle is the lobby area of the hotel. There is a large reception desk and armchairs in an impressive setting.
