Rent a canoe on-site or explore the nearby wooded trails. Then plan your excursions. In downtown Halifax, 30 minutes away, admire the harbor view from the Halifax Citadel, which once guarded this key naval station of the British Empire. Stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens, the oldest Victorian garden in North America. Peggy's Cove, a much-photographed fishing village with a picture-perfect lighthouse and lobster pots, lies a few miles east. This campground flooded while we were there which is no fault of the owners, however, with standing water everywhere, staff disappeared for two days. The office didn't open nor could you find any staff until it was time to check in more people. Highly recommend avoiding this campground.

Very tight drive lanes and spaces that are not level. Many kids running across roads so drive incredibly slow and watch out! Our space was right next to the septic field (referred to as the “newer part of the park” in section A - stay away!) so the odors were terrible and prevented us from sitting outside. Should have never placed any spaces near this area. Good location for greater Halifax and wine country area but be ready to put up with some unpleasant issues.
