Wild Dog Hill/Whyalla Conservation Park

The main entrance to the Whyalla Conservation Park is located on the Lincoln Highway, 10 km north of Whyalla, just south of the Port Bonython turn off take the 8 km drive out to Wild Dog Hill.

Wild Dog Hill, a sandstone outcrop, rises in the north western corner takes only 10 minutes to easily climb and affords some great views for picture taking. The Park is closed from half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise.

The walking trail leads to the top giving a clear view of the Park and surrounding areas. To walk the full length of the trail will take around half an hour. Walking, bird watching, native animal spotting, sunsets and sunrises, orienteering and picnics are popular activities enjoyed by visitors to the park.

The park is controlled by National Parks and Wildlife SA, but is maintained by the Friends of Whyalla Conservation Park. Major tracks are suited to conventional vehicles, except after heavy rain.
