Coward Springs Campground is between Marree (130 kilometres north-west) and William Creek (77 kilometres south-east). It is an oasis, a restored and heritage-listed railway site and a place to relax and really get a sense of the outback and its history. Coward Springs Campground has been operating since 1991 as a family business. You will find campsites amongst the shady historic trees and date palms; a relaxing and refreshing natural spa; a museum in the restored Engine Drivers Cabin; a wetland; facilities built from recycled railway and telegraph materials with artwork and artistic details in unexpected places. Campsites have individual fireplaces but please bring your own firewood. There is no firewood collection at, or within 10 kilometres of Coward Springs. (Fire ban period applies from late October to April). Nights are peaceful as no generators are allowed after 5pm or in the mornings. Coward Springs is open to day visitors for a small entrance fee of AUD2.00 per person (children half-price). In June and July we offer extended camel safaris into the surrounding outback landscape.
