“Enjoy the Quiet Serenity of Omaha!”

Sitting at the northern end of 45,000-acre Lake Walter F. George (also called Lake Eufaula) this quiet park offers the perfect getaway for those who love water sports. It is adjacent to a natural deep-water marina with an accessible fishing pier, boat slips and boat ramp.  Overnight guests can choose from a variety of accommodations, including fully equipped cottages, small efficiency units and a modern campground.    Florence Marina is popular with nature enthusiasts as well.  Birders are likely to see herons, egrets and even bald eagles. The Kirbo Interpretive Center showcases area wildlife and plants, local history and Native Americans, including artifacts from the prehistoric Paleo-Indian period through the early 20th century. Ten miles southeast is Providence Canyon State Conservation Park, known as Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon.

Florence Marina is a beautiful little park near the famous Providence Canyon recreation area. It has water and power only and is first come/first served in terms of picking your campsite. Not all of the sites have 50 amp so you need to seek out the ones that do if you require it.

The campground is beautiful right on a marina and river. It is in a wooded area and isolated so the roads getting to the campground are very curvy so take it slow. It is also basically in the middle of nowhere so bring supplies. We did have a weak Verizon wifi signal. Each site had a picnic table and fire ring. There are not really any trails at the site but there are open spaces for walking and even a mini golf course.

Absolutely take a day to hike through Providence Canyon which is only 15 mins away. Totally worth the trip alone.

For beer fans the Omaha brewing company is only about 10 minutes away, but their tasting room has very strange hours (it closed at 6pm on the Friday we arrived) so make sure and check their schedule. We used this as a base camp to visit Columbus, Ga which has killer white water rafting along the river walk and some great looking zip lines.

You can reserve in advance yet it's not site specific. We found a great spot on the end facing the woods. Lot's of big Travel Trailers were in for the weekend we were there over Halloween.

The campground is nice, very nice restrooms with washers & Dryers in them. They have a fish cleaning house down on the end where we camped and folks with boats were happy to share their crappy with us they caught more than they needed. There is a boat ramp & marina at the state park and the state park rents John boats at a good price. The office had a camp store & they even sold bait there.

The campground is on the Chattahoochee river which is on the GA/AL line so you can have a fishing license for either state. There are Gators, Blue Herons, Egrets and more.

During Halloween week they created a haunted trail & you can walk it or take a hay ride during their Halloween fest. As we pulled in they had fake grave sites that had funny sayings on them.
We were lucky to get a good spot since the campground filled up closer to the weekend.

Close by about 6 miles up the road is Providence Canyon which looks like a little Bryce canyon yet was made do to poor farming way back when. You can walk the rim or down in the canyon both are nice. Across the road is an old Church that has an old graveyard next to it.

Great campsite and park. Next to the river. One of the few state parks with sewer. Great fishing. Great hiking in providence canyon. The best thing though, it’s real close to Omaha brewing! Stop in a get a couple growlers of craft beer to drink at the camp.

This was a quiet little campground. Very clean facilities, however if on ATT, there is no cell service. Providence canyons state park is only 10 minutes away, which is a must!

If you want an awesome hiking experience, visit Providence Canyon State Park, also known as Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon". It's incredible. But unfortunately, only primitive camping is supported at Providence Canyon, so if you're in an RV, you'll need to head a few miles down the road to Florence Marina State Park.

If you don't have a boat, there isn't much to do at Florence Marina. But it does have very long, wide, and spaced out sites with full 50A hook-ups including sewer. Cell service was spotty, and there is no WiFi at the campground. At our site, satellite TV was completely unavailable due to tree cover. It's a basic campground, but was well kept, clean, and quiet. I'd definitely stay here again to visit Providence Canyon.

We loved camping here. We brought our kids for a long weekend and found it to be family friendly, clean, and beautiful. The bathrooms were well kept and heated (which was important when temps dipped close to freezing). Our kids enjoyed the larger playground near the entrance. The one closer to the camp sites was very small and my kids were uninterested. Likewise, we skipped mini golf as the course looked like it had seen better days. We did ride bikes quite a bit and drove down the road to Providence Canyon twice to hike.

If you are going for the canyons, great. Otherwise there is not much in the area to do. We did visit Omaha Brewing which was ok and had a food truck on site.

Cell reception within the campground was minimal at best. We didn’t mind too much since we were trying to stay off devices but on a rainy morning it made the time drag.

A few of the sites had some deep water and puddles after rain, ours included. We should have planned better but had at least a couple inches of standing water one morning when we were surprised by the weather (that we weren’t able to check). But we made the best of it and it didn’t ruin our trip. Site 11 seemed to get more water than 12 did.

Overall we would visit again, especially if we wanted to go to the canyons again.

We stayed here on a trip to visit Providence Canyon which is about 8 miles away. Our rate reflects a 20% Friends of GA State Parks discount.

The campground is very pretty, but remote. Sites are mostly large and level with trees around them, but choose carefully. Site 1 had a lot of space around it, but was in front of some kind of water treatment facility or something that had a loud droning sound day and night. Avoid sites 1-7 unless you don't mind hearing a machine running constantly. Those sites are also gravel and were flooded in areas and 2-7 are not private feeling at all.

The sites were 50 amp FHU. Most of the pull-through sites in the middle were extremely long and paved.

The campground is by a lake, so fishing seemed to be popular. There was a little miniature golf course and 2 playgrounds that were closed due to Covid-19.

Cell service with a booster was adequate for checking email, but otherwise very limited bandwidth.

We stayed here for two nights and wished we would have reserved a different site. Our site was very unlevel, gravel and close to the water plant with a constant droning all night long. Spacious long black topped sites down in the middle of the campground and i wished we would have had one of those. Many sites were flooded though because of all the rain that was received while we were there.
We explored Eufuala, AL and really enjoyed viewing all the old historic homes, beautiful!
I don’t understand the positive comments about the nearby “canyon” and state park. Not impressed.
I doubt if we would go back, but overall this was a nice campground.

We stayed here 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We were in site 21 and it was great. We parked our camper, f250, Jeep, and boat all on the paved pad. The site was level which was nice. There are also full hook ups but at least with the position of our sewer hook up in relation to the living area of the site we would have needed nearly 30’ of sewer hose to stay hooked up (we have 20’). The only real downfall was some ants and just so happens that the only low spot in the site was just out of our door when it rained and made a puddle but dried quickly.
